Last Sunday while reading the Seattle Times, I ran across an interesting real estate article: "Not your typical U.S. surplus: posh embassies", written by Matthew Lee of the Associated Press , and I found the article on-line to share with you at the Boston Globe . The properties locations were romantic sounding: far away and exotic...like an adventure movie location...places like Kathmandu, Bangkok, and Jakarta...places you would expect to find a cloak and dagger movie spy or James Bond. Very different from the prosaic Seattle real estate market!
Of course some of the properties are fixers having been the scene of riots, have title issues or are merely down and cannot be made secure for the level of terror that preys on the world today. One of the properties "for sale" is actually a lease for 939 years (of a 999 year lease) for a property in London. I was disappointed when I checked out the State Department website to look at some of the properties. I found the Marketing for the properties to be nonexistent; no photos, no marketing remarks...nothing. Hmmm...I would have such fun writing the marketing for these properties!

Wow... I am in London and will check that one out!
The only downside might be the locals not realizing the building is not an embassy of the US anymore and just showing up for their riot at your front door!
Robert- That's a hoot! What if they threw a riot and no U.S. officials were there! LOL!
Hi Sarah - It would be so much fun to develop Marketing for an Embassy! Me, I'd play up the history and romance of a far away, exotic place...I'd see you as the Director of a short marketing documentary...maybe an winning an "Oscar" for your exciting Real Estate Show marketing. My imagination runs wild with the marketing possibilities! : )
