*** It's 2008! ***
Seattle celebrated the New Year with Fireworks from the Space Needle , an annual event that this year enjoyed a beautiful, unusually clear night with no rain! While the weather cooperated, the Firework's computer program did not.
This year's theme was a tribute to Hollywood, and the film scores, broadcast on Star 101.5 FM went on with the show, but the Fireworks computer program did "break-a-leg" and while the music played on, crowd watched a silent and "dark" Space Needle. The technicians had to lend a hand and re-boot twice, when that did not work, they manually triggered the Fireworks and then the Space Needle >>> burst <<< with brilliant displays of rockets, light, and sparkles!
Okay, so the carefully choreographed music and Fireworks were no longer synchronized, but it was still glorious!
Okay, confession...I was not there in person and watched it on TV...but I was there in SPIRIT!
Happy New Year!

Deborah, I love fireworks display and remember fondly the 4th of July ones put on in NYC by Macy's every year. We would go to our rooftop in Queens and could still see them from there. Love your confession. LOL
Happy new year!
Happy New Year Maggie! Fireworks are just magical, and so thrilling to see! I can see the fireworks at the Space Needle from my house, although because of the distance, it's very tiny...but I can see them! Your memories of being on your rooftop in Queens sounds wonderful!
Happy New Year Phil! It is really cool to see fireworks being set off from up high like your Cathedral of Learning building!
Hi Deborah..I watched the delay unfold on TV, The end result was great, just no music. The fireworks where the best, I watched Sidney Australia, New York and London England. The Space Needle was a Great setting. The Folks inside must have wondered what was happening.
HAVE A HUGE YEAR IN REAL ESTATE IN 2008
Even with the glitches they were fun to watch :)
Happy New Year Fred! Wow, that's cool that you saw fireworks for New Year's Celebrations all over the world! The Space Needle is a wonderful place to see the fireworks, it's my dream to watch them from a boat in Elliott Bay, in Puget Sound some day...it will be wonderful! The delay just made it a little more...unique!
Happy New Year Jo! Yes, even with the computer glitches the fireworks were spectacular! I loved watching.
Happy New Year Lisa! you know fireworks are just a little too exciting (even on TV!) and made it challenging to keep my camera level! I like the idea of the Falling Space Needle...
