This past Friday I met with a brand new (3rd day of being a real estate agent!) agent, Joel who responded to my group email looking for someone to host a Saturday Open House with my Montlake listing.

I have to give Joel kudos for taking the initiative to ask to do it when he's so new, not even a Supra Key, and only temporary cards. I wanted to meet with whoever asked to host because the house has so many cool features (even a Secret Room!) that it really needs a tour to know what to show visitors when they come to the Open House.
Meeting Joel was wonderful, he has such enthusiasm and we hit it off right away. We did the grand tour, and I spent a lot of time talking about how to hold a successful Open House and shared my ideas about real estate. Joel absorbed everything like a sponge and was so excited about holding his first Open House! I really enjoy teaching and coaching so this was a lot of fun for me. I think that he has what it takes to make a successful career in real estate, and I hope that I have helped a little to give Joel a jump start.
Later Saturday after finishing up with his Open House, Joel called to tell me how it went (I wanted to know so I could let my clients know how the Saturday Open House went when I contact them with how today's (Sunday) Open House went). Joel was excited to have met with people as a Seattle real estate agent, and the Open House was well attended so he had the opportunity to talk to about 20 people. While no strong potential clients this time, he is excited to do it again next Saturday, and he is going to spend today visiting other agents Open Houses.
I have always enjoyed training and coaching so this little "Foray into Mentoring" was as exciting for me as it was for Joel.
